Rome and EUR District

Rome, the capital of Italy, offers an extraordinary concentration of historical and cultural attractions. From the monumental heritage of the ancient Roman city—such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon—to the legacy of the Papal city, where every church and fountain houses its own artistic treasure, Rome presents a unique journey through more than two millennia of history. Its vibrant streets, museums, and architectural landmarks make it an inspiring setting for visitors attending the conference.

The Conference venue is located in the EUR district (Esposizione Universale di Roma), an area originally planned in the 1930s for a world’s fair that was never held due to the outbreak of the Second World War. EUR is now one of the most distinctive architectural areas of the city. Its urban layout reflects rationalist and modernist ideals, with monumental buildings, wide avenues, and elegant green spaces. Today, EUR is a dynamic business and institutional hub, home to museums, congress centers headquarters of important public and private institutions. Contemporary landmarks are the so-called “Square Colosseum” (Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro) and the EUR Lake.

San Pellegrino – Viterbo

Viterbo, located in northern Lazio, approximately 80 km from Rome, is a historic city renowned for its remarkably well-preserved medieval center and its long-standing connection to the Papacy. Known as the ‘City of the Popes,’ Viterbo hosted the Papal Court in the 13th century, leaving a rich architectural legacy that includes the Papal Palace and elegant civic buildings. San Pellegrino is the medieval heart of Viterbo and one of the best-preserved historical quarters in Europe. Characterized by stone towers, arches, loggias, and narrow cobbled streets, the district retains the atmosphere of a 13th-century town. Highlights include the Piazza San Pellegrino and Palazzo dei Papi, one of Viterbo’s most iconic monuments. A short walk through San Pellegrino feels like stepping back into the Middle Ages, offering a relaxing and evocative contrast to Rome’s urban modernity.

A dedicated conference shuttle bus will transport participants from Rome to Viterbo and back.

The shuttle bus will depart from the Inail headquarters and will take participants to their respective hotels in Viterbo.

Participants not travelling with their own vehicle are required to book accommodation in Viterbo for the night of September 15, 2026.

Conference shuttle buses will transfer participants from Rome to Viterbo on September 15, with return transfers to Rome and/or Fiumicino Airport only on September 16, at the end of the conference.
